Taijiquan warriors mainly use a palm to give the shock to the brain during fighting. However, there is also a technique of the fist attack that breaks bones.

“Step Forward Parry block and Punch (進步搬攔捶)” is a technique to throw the punch toward the center of the chest while blocking the opponent’s guard hand.

The chest plate is covered with thick muscles so that there is an image that it would be difficult to give the damage on it with punches.

However, there is no muscle in the center of the chest, you can attack the bone directly.

Let’s explain the details of the technique.

Vertical fist is used in the 24-style simplified Taijiquan based on Yang style Taijiquan.

Make the force to thrust the opponent’s defense hand with the left hand with the movement of the right fist.

Next, while using the left hand to secure the trajectory to throw the fist, it is the movement to punch with the right fist.

The Fist rubs chest first, then it is flew from under the chin.  An axis rotates and the shoulder is getting in. That motion becomes a twist straight punch.

It is said that “Step Forward Parry Block and Punch” is a hard punch in Taijiquan. If you get the heavy punch onto the center of the chest, you could not breathe.
